Biomechanics and Orthotics

Following referral to us for prescription foot orthotics we will assess your patients requirements through a biomechanical assessment.  This includes assessment of such things as:

  1. A static biomechanics assessment.
  2. A Weight-bearing biomechanics assessment.
  3. An analysis of gait.
  4. Other appropriate assessments or tests.

Following our assessment a treatment program will be developed with the patient.

Treatment plans may include:

  • Education and Advice for the patient.
  • Therapies in the office.
  • A programme of exercises.
  • Orthotic Therapy: Each pair of custom orthoses is prescribed bespoke, tailored to each individual’s needs. ┬áChiropodists regulated by the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, have foot orthotics explicitly within their scope of practice under the Chiropody Act 1991, for the treatment and prevention of diseases, disorders and dysfunctions of the foot.
